Bangladesh's social media audience continued to grow in 2026, but many articles still quote numbers collected in 2025.
That matters.
DataReportal's Digital 2026: Bangladesh report was published for the 2026 planning cycle, but most of its figures were collected in October 2025. DataReportal itself makes this date difference clear.
For this report, we use October 2026 data where newer figures are available, followed by September and August 2026 data. Older figures are only used when a newer Bangladesh-specific dataset has not been published.
Data checked: November 2026.
The latest cross-platform dataset puts Bangladesh at approximately 68.3 million social media user identities in October 2026, equal to about 38.3% of the population and up 6.7% year over year.
Facebook and Messenger figures come from Meta's marketing data compiled by NapoleonCat. TikTok's October figure comes from TikTok advertising data reported in the latest global digital dataset, while YouTube's October figure comes from Google's advertising audience data.
Instagram needs one caution. NapoleonCat's September 2026 Bangladesh page shows 11,471,600 in its headline but 12.2 million in its monthly table. Because the same source currently displays both numbers, treating the market as roughly 12 million is safer than pretending one is perfectly precise.
The latest estimate is 68.3 million social media user identities in October 2026.
That equals roughly 38.3% of Bangladesh's population. The reported total was 6.7% higher than one year earlier.
Do not read "68.3 million identities" as exactly 68.3 million different Bangladeshis.
Social media datasets try to account for duplication, but one person can operate multiple accounts, platform data can be revised, and the methods used to estimate total social audiences differ from the methods used inside individual advertising platforms.
This explains an apparent contradiction in the data: an individual platform can report an addressable advertising audience larger than the country's cross-platform social-media identity estimate.
Facebook remains especially important in Bangladesh, not only for content but also for selling, customer communication, groups and F-commerce.
The October 2026 Facebook audience was heavily concentrated among younger adults:
The 18-24 group alone accounted for approximately 30.3 million people in NapoleonCat's current audience estimate.
Facebook also dominates the social traffic that Bangladeshi websites actually receive.
StatCounter recorded 77.09% of social-media-referred website traffic in Bangladesh coming from Facebook in October 2026. On mobile devices alone, Facebook's share was even higher at 80.91%.
That does not mean 77.09% of Bangladeshis use Facebook.
StatCounter measures website page views referred by social platforms, not social network users.
Facebook's role in Bangladesh goes beyond audience size.
A March 2026 report from Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha cited industry estimates of around 500,000 to 1 million entrepreneur-focused Facebook pages, with approximately 200,000 to 250,000 active Facebook-commerce entrepreneurs.
That helps explain why Facebook Page, Messenger, comments and inbox-based ordering remain part of everyday online commerce in Bangladesh.
For sellers already running one of those pages, the next question is usually how to get more out of it, and our F-commerce guide for Bangladesh walks through the Shop tab setup, product listing and the inbox ordering flow.
TikTok is now one of Bangladesh's largest digital audiences.
The latest October 2026 dataset puts Bangladesh's TikTok adult advertising audience at 68.312 million, making Bangladesh the 9th-largest TikTok advertising market in the world by reported adult reach.
TikTok's advertising reach was equivalent to about 57.1% of Bangladesh's adult population in October 2026.
The latest quarterly change was +1.3%.
This is one area where using fresh 2026 data makes a major difference.
The Digital 2026 country report had put TikTok's adult ad reach at 56.2 million in October 2025. By October 2026, the reported number had reached 68.3 million - an increase of roughly 21.5% in twelve months based on those two published advertising-reach figures.
Google's latest advertising data puts YouTube's Bangladesh audience at approximately 54.3 million in October 2026.
Bangladesh was also among the world's largest YouTube advertising markets in the October 2026 dataset.
That scale has a second effect. More Bangladeshi channels are now crossing the payout threshold, and receiving AdSense payments in Bangladesh involves its own steps around local bank transfers and the minimum balance.
YouTube has a smaller share than Facebook in Bangladesh's social referral data, but it is still clearly second.
That distinction particularly matters for platforms such as TikTok, where much of the user journey stays inside the app.
Instagram has a much smaller reported audience than Facebook or TikTok in Bangladesh, but its age profile is heavily concentrated among younger people.
NapoleonCat's September 2026 demographic data shows:
About 6.2 million users in the dataset belonged to the 18-24 age group.
This means around 87% of the measured Instagram audience was between 18 and 34.
For Bangladesh brands targeting younger consumers, this age concentration is more useful than looking only at Instagram's smaller total audience.
Messenger deserves its own place in a Bangladesh social media report because it often acts as the bridge between content and customer conversation.
The October 2026 audience estimate shows the following demographic pattern:
Around 28.1 million people in the measured audience were aged 18-24.
You may see much lower Messenger numbers in older Bangladesh reports.
Do not calculate a growth rate directly between those older figures and today's estimate. Meta's reporting definitions and third-party collection methods have changed, so the values are not clean like-for-like measurements.
For businesses, the useful point is that Messenger remains a major reachable communication channel for Bangladesh's Facebook-heavy online market.
LinkedIn had a reported audience of 13.976 million in September 2026.
Its age distribution looks very different from Instagram or Facebook:
The 25-34 group alone represented about 7.3 million members, making it the largest professional-age segment in the dataset.
LinkedIn data needs another qualification.
The platform reports registered members / addressable members, not monthly active users in the same way some other platforms estimate advertising audiences. Do not put LinkedIn's number beside Facebook or YouTube and call them directly equivalent user counts.
The 2026 platform data shows one clear pattern: younger adults account for a large share of the addressable social audience.
Facebook and Messenger are strongest among 18-24 and 25-34, while Instagram is even more concentrated in the 18-24 group.
LinkedIn shifts older, with 25-34 becoming its largest segment.
That matters for Bangladesh businesses.
A university, fashion seller, creator or youth-focused brand may see a very different platform opportunity from a B2B software company, recruitment agency or professional training provider.
The largest platform is not automatically the best platform for every customer group.
The available 2026 platform datasets continue to show a male-heavy reported audience.
The current figures available from Meta-derived datasets show men accounting for roughly:
They reflect the gender information available through platform marketing systems, and platforms only publish the categories available in their reporting tools.
For brands selling mainly to women, this is a reason to check their own customer and campaign data instead of assuming national platform totals describe their actual audience.
Social media growth depends on the infrastructure underneath it. BTRC counted 137.66 million internet subscriptions in August 2026. Of these:
BTRC also reported 191.09 million mobile subscriptions in August 2026, including 87.20 million Grameenphone, 59.04 million Robi, 37.95 million Banglalink and 6.90 million Teletalk subscriptions.
These numbers are subscriptions, not unique people.
One Bangladeshi can use multiple SIMs, multiple connections, or both mobile data and home broadband.
Internet speed has also improved significantly.
Ookla's September 2026 Speedtest Global Index reported:
Bangladesh ranked 90th for mobile and 99th for fixed broadband in the dataset.
This is a large change from the older Digital 2026 figures that many Bangladesh statistics articles still repeat.
For social media marketers, improving speeds make video, live content and richer mobile creative more practical, although connection quality still varies by area.
The most important growth story is not simply that more Bangladeshis are online.
The platform mix is changing.
TikTok's reported adult advertising audience increased sharply between October 2025 and October 2026, while LinkedIn's measured audience also moved from around 11 million in September 2025 to nearly 14 million by September 2026.
Instagram's monthly data also points upward across 2026, even though its current September page contains conflicting headline and table values.
Facebook remains much larger, but its month-to-month advertising estimates move in both directions. NapoleonCat’s table shows the audience estimate moving from 75.18 million in August 2026 to 71.96 million in September, then 77.14 million in October.
That volatility is a useful warning:
A change in advertising reach does not always mean millions of real people joined or left a platform in one month.
Platforms revise data, remove accounts, change targeting systems and update estimation methods.
Social media is tied closely to how Bangladeshis discover, discuss and buy products online.
Some of those businesses also buy engagement directly. Anyone comparing an SMM panel in Bangladesh should read the measurement section below first, because an advertising reach figure is not a promise of real customers.
The clearest example is Facebook commerce.
BSS reported in March 2026 that active Facebook-commerce entrepreneurs numbered 200,000 to 250,000, while entrepreneur-focused Facebook pages may number between 500,000 and one million.
Bangladesh's wider digital advertising economy is also expanding.
A Research and Markets forecast published in February 2026 estimated the country's digital advertising market would reach US$3.80 billion in 2026, up 10.1% for the year. This is a private market estimate rather than an official government statistic, so it should be treated as a forecast, not a confirmed national spending total.
For local businesses, the platform data suggests different jobs for different channels:
Use the numbers to guide channel selection, not to force every business onto every platform. Each platform link above goes to the service page for that network if you want to see what is actually available for Bangladesh.
A smaller group works the supply side of this market rather than the demand side. Starting an SMM reseller business in Bangladesh is the usual entry point, while building your own Bangladesh SMM panel is the heavier technical step that comes later.
When you use Bangladesh social media statistics in a report, proposal or marketing plan, write the data month beside the number.
For example:
Facebook addressable audience: 77.14M - October 2026
is much more useful than:
Bangladesh has 77M Facebook users.
It also makes the statistic much easier to update when the next dataset arrives.

You do not need thousands of followers to get more views on TikTok. TikTok's For You feed recommends videos based on what individual users may find relevant. TikTok says signals such as what people watch, skip, like, share, and comment on help shape those recommendations, with user interactions generally carrying more weight than other factors.

The best time to post on TikTok is Tuesday through Thursday between 2 PM and 6 PM local time. That does not mean 3 PM will work for every account. TikTok itself says the best posting time is unique to each account because audiences have different demographics and activity patterns. It recommends using audience analytics and testing what produces the strongest response for your content.

TikTok marketing means using TikTok to introduce people to a business, build interest in its products or services, and move the right viewers toward an action. That action could be following the account, visiting a website, submitting a lead, downloading an app, or buying a product.
